Some of our favorite CityWalk Orlando restaurants have been around for decades. Some of them have been in business longer than we have. Among my favorites is La Gran Plaza, which serves up a wonderful and cheap lunch buffet every morning starting at $8. There is a huge variety of fresh fruit and sandwich combinations to choose from. My daughter raves about how great their sandwiches are, but the price is a little hard to swallow sometimes!
Another one of our favorite citywalk orlando restaurants is called Poppies Cafe and should be on everyone’s list of must visit places in Orlando. It is located at the corner of International Drive and Windermere Drive. The inside is very colorful with lots of outdoor tables and umbrellas. This restaurant offers free breakfast each day, starting at six am. On certain nights, they offer live music while the restaurant prepares your favorite sandwiches and other foods for a special occasion or party.
Our last stop on our nine citywalk Orlando tours is the bar called The Bear and The Moon. This bar has four floors and features four different levels with live music. We enjoyed the $4.00 pitchers of Fat Tuesday cocktails and the five course meal that came with two entrees and three different deserts. The bar was also accompanied by a fire place so there was a nice cozy feel to it. There were some great deals and packages available for Fat Tuesday, including a free starter bottle of wine along with a set of six drink glasses for just one low price. It was one of our favorite stops on our tour!
Just a quick stop over from Poppies Cafe and The Bear and The Moon we went to the closest pizzeria on the citywalk: Pizzitos on Orlando’s Citywalk. We got some delicious Italian food and a giant cornmeal flat bread that was absolutely delicious. This was the only place where you can get a pizza delivered that was in the same building as the restaurants, which made it even better!
If we were looking for a unique dining experience we would have to include our visit to Macaroni’s on International Drive. It was like a cross between an Italian restaurant and a bar with an old world charm. There are live entertainment nights that happen Wednesdays through Fridays, and a weekly happy hour that costs only a mere $8. It was also interesting to learn that this location is the only one of Orlando restaurants that serves all types of beer, including a very good tapas selection. Macaroni’s also offers some of the best pasta that Orlando restaurants have to offer. It was a fun experience to be a part of and we will be back if we come to Disney World or Universal Studios Orlando.
These three restaurants were definitely a highlight of our vacation and we are definitely planning to go back and try other places we didn’t try during our trip. The meals at the restaurants themselves were excellent, but the atmosphere and overall quality of the restaurants as a whole were our number one concern. The fact that we had fun during our stay at all the Orlando hotels is definitely enough to make us want to go back. The fact that we didn’t spend much money while we were there is also a strong reason to visit all the other Orlando restaurants as well. We just have to figure out where we are going to plan on spending the money to get there!
