Red Snapper Florida Gulf


Red Snapper is fish found in the Gulf of Mexico. Generally the fish is about 16 inches long when it is caught. To find the fishing season rules for the red snapper please click here.

Cooking Red Snapper

Red Snapper is a delicious fish and it can be baked, fried or grilled. The fillets of the fish are thick, meaty and tasty.

Baking Red Snapper

  • Preheat your oven.
  • Put the snapper skin side up in a baking pan.
  • Brush both sides of the fillet with cooking oil.
  • Bake the snapper for 8 to 10 minutes or until the fish is begins to get flaky but do no over bake it.
  • Transfer the red snapper to the plate and add lemon juice, a little cilantro and a touch of olive oil.

Red snapper season underway in Mississippi

Red snapper season began in Mississippi territorial waters on July 16 and runs through Oct. 31. Jamie Miller, executive director of Mississippi Department of Marine Resources, said the bag limit is two per person with a minimum size of 16 inches
