With all of the delicious food I have had in my life, it is very difficult to find a place I haven’t tried, or that I haven’t eaten at. Food is one of the most important parts of a great dining experience, so finding the best restaurants in Gainesville, Florida are a must. With so many great restaurants to chose from, deciding the best ones will often not be that simple. Factors like ambiance, service, serving size, and so much more should all be looked into to make sure that you will have a wonderful dining experience. The only problem is that sometimes it can be difficult to know where to begin. That is why we have put together a few tips to help you find the best restaurants in Gainesville, Florida.
– First and foremost, if you are looking for a restaurant where you can get some really good eats, then don’t miss Outback Steakhouse. While not the biggest name in the industry, Outback has set the standard for quality and hospitality in dining in Gainesville, Florida. If you want to go out to a restaurant where the food is just as good, but there is more personality, then head to Outback. While there may not be as many high profile restaurants as there used to be, Outback still has established itself as a top performing dining establishment.
– Secondly, if you are looking for the best restaurants in Gainesville, then look no further than theummy pizzeria. While they may be more popular than some of the other places on our list, theummy pizzeria still has some amazing dishes that are worth coming to, whether you are eating with a group or alone. The pizza here is absolutely phenomenal and you can tell that the employees truly care about providing you with the best tasting pizza that they possibly can. They truly treat their customers well. Of course, this restaurant isn’t cheap, so you might want to save your money and eat at another place if you are planning on bringing a group with you. However, if you are willing to give this restaurant a shot, then you will not be disappointed in the end results.
– Third, while we are talking about the best places in Gainesville, you may want to check out the Grilled Out restaurant located at Aloma Coolside. Grilled Out specializes in all types of seafood, but they also have specialty items such as their famous crab cakes. Of course, Crab Cakes are usually one of those things you have to try at least once when you are in Gainesville, but you should also check this restaurant out because of the great food. Of course, if you want a little bit better quality food than you are going to pay more, but you shouldn’t pay much more than you would for a nice dinner at some of the top restaurants in Gainesville.
– Fifth, if you enjoy full bar experience then you will definitely want to check out the Full Bar at Silver Dollar. There is no real reason to miss out on enjoying delicious food options while you are in Gainesville. Of course, if you aren’t a fan of full bar experience then you can also enjoy a couple of different platters from the bar menu. Of course, if you are in the mood to party then you can enjoy some of the other exciting food options in Gainesville including the many different local and international cuisine options. Plus, the Full Bar allows you to make full use of your guest list allowing you to fill up fast with friends and family.
– Six, if you love seafood then you have never had the opportunity to experience the wonderful taste of Northwest Grille. Located in the Gainesville Commons downtown area the Northwest Grille features local and International seafood in a variety of interesting presentations. Absolutely fantastic food. So damn flavorful. You might not expect it from just driving past the place, but very good food. I had the scallops and also the seafood Mac and cheese, and after that I have to recommend anyone that can visit to try their food. When they brought my food out it looked so good that I had to taste it before driving home. I ended up eating it all in my car.
They do a great job here. If I lived in the area I would be ordering food from here at least every week.

I am over the moon for the Underground Kitchen! Incredible food, Carl is a joy, and my coworkers and I can’t stop raving about the taste, quality, and price! Definitely give them a try, and check out their wonderful program for aspiring chefs. They are an asset to the community, and if I could give more stars, I sure would. I ate my seafood mac and cheese before getting a photo, but I promise you, it’s as delicious and gorgeous looking as the rest of the food I did get photos of. Seriously, try them!

All of the food was so delicious that we were dancing in our seats while we ate! They are currently only doing curbside delivery. Then gentleman who brought us our food and took our order over the phone was cool, down to Earth, and professional. We will definitely be visiting this restaurant on a regular basis and I highly recommend that you try it too!

Some of the best food my date and I have ever had!! Our server, Thomas, was super attentive and made sure everything was perfect. Food came out with amazing timing and tasted like heaven! The mushroom ravioli and pecan tofu (with garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli) was spectacular!! Compliments to the kitchen staff! Cant wait to come back 🙂

We randomly came here on our way down south and this place is PHENOMENAL! Totally worth driving a few minutes off the interstate. The food and service is amazing, they have tons of vegan/vegetarian options, and they’re inclusive to people of all walks of life. Our server Michelle was wonderful. We will be back next time we make it this far south. Thank you so much!!

The food was good but not worth the wait. I ordered the egg and cheddar sandwich (which did taste very good) but it took 50 minutes to get to our table. The restaurant wasn’t even that busy. It would have taken me 10 minutes to make the same thing at home for much less money. Only come here if you’re not very hungry and have a way to pass nearly an hour while you wait (i.e. conversation, game, book, etc).

My first time eating here and it won’t be my last. Unique and fun atmosphere, I chose to eat outside. Tables were limited outside under the cover by 12:45 and there was a steady flow of people. I had the side salad and the BLT. The side salad had capers and dill pickles(which I don’t usually eat) and I enjoy them both. They didn’t overwhelm the salad and it was a nice change. The BLT was perfect. Tomato was yummy and lettuce perfect. So big I could only eat half. Can’t wait to try something else. Very very good and wait staff was attentive. Love the idea you get a full bottle of water and a water glass. No waiting for someone to fill your glass. A definite regular stop for me.

This place is so cute. Great atmosphere for a breakfast or brunch. You will pay $10 for whipped feta toast but it is totally worth it. Delicious!

I couldn’t speak more highly of this place! I went for dinner with a friend and loved everything. I got the beef skewers & spring rolls & didn’t want either dish to be finished, they were so good! Oscar was fantastic-he was kind, accommodating, and made sure we knew he was available for us while giving us our space to catch up. Not only that, but when they ran out of their AMAZING mango sticky rice he gave me a notecard to redeem a free one the next time I came in. The food & service are great, I highly recommend it for your next quick dinner

The waitress was very knowledgeable and sweet. That’s the only positive thing I can say. We had a reservation so they knew we were coming with a group of 11. We ordered quickly as we were heading back to S Fl. Our breakfast/brunch took 1.5 hours to come out of kitchen. And my simple pancakes were the worst pancake I have every eaten. It was not just our group either, the table next to ours waited forever for food. Food never came, but they received the bill!! But as I said the waitress was great. Lol

Found this on a list of 10 best restaurants in Gainesville. Bloody Mary was great and Kaylee our server was very good. Food was poorly prepared and strange. Duck seemed to be baked and not seared and served well done and dry instead of medium rare. Flavors on the plate did not go together well and ravioli was not homemade. Could not finish the food and daughters shrimp and lobster was fishy and tasted frozen. Seeing lots of good reviews for great food and really wish that had been our experience for a pricey meal.
Update: I just found out the Chef here passed away in March 2020 which is terrible news and my condolences. Moving forward someone/owner should make some tough choices about the future of this restaurant with out a qualified chef.

Limited capacity seating for safety lends to extra stellar service further elevating a fantabulously delicious meal. We wanted for nothing and almost left our manners outside because we felt compelled to scrape our plates it was so good!!! 🙂

We ordered 3 meals. All 3 came out at different times. I was finished with my lunch when the next meal arrived. They 2nd person was almost done when the last meal, a burger arrived. The fires arrived cold. No one was available to ask to remedy the situation. This should not of happen. Overall the food was OK, definitely do not recommend.

I’m amazed at how consistently good P&G is. I’ve never had a bad meal here and I’ve tried things I would never have tried otherwise. An incredible must-have if you’re visiting Gainesville, and if you’re local and you haven’t tried one of their burgers…what are you even doing?

This is quite possibly the best food I have ever tasted – everything is homemade and no microwaves in the kitchen! I came here for a romantic dinner and it did not disappoint. After our meal the Chef/Owner came to our table, greeted us and chatted for a bit. You can tell that everything in this business is given the utmost care and that his passion makes this place successful. Do yourself a favor and stop on by for the most delicious meal of your life!

I usually don’t write reviews, but after visiting here yesterday, I just had to! The restaurant was beautiful and the food was absolutely delicious and incredibly reasonably priced. The entire waitstaff was so kind, knowledgeable of the menu and accommodating. Their wines and appetizer bread (they give three different varieties instead of just Italian) were amazing, too! 10/10 would & plan to return 🙂

This place is a hidden gem. It is an experience and an adventure. You feel like you are some rich, fancy, French lad being wined and dined when you are here, without a super high cost. The menu changes often so there’s always something new. The service is amazing. I love this place so much.

Delicious and a must try! The classic Brie chaud was a surprising and very good balance of flavors. The pasta and French onion soup on special were amazing! Great wine rounded out the evening, and our server Ellie was so sweet. We will absolutely be back!

Went here a while back with my girlfriend, the food was pretty good, but everything else was not. We had arrived about 15 minutes before they opened for dinner, were one of the first people seated, yet somehow we had to wait 40 minutes for our starter. I’ve worked in plenty of restaurants before and to satisfy my curiosity I counted the number of tables. There was less than 20, and 7 or 8 servers working that shift. So could someone please explain to me why it took my party an hour to get our check so we could leave? I honestly felt bad about asking for my check, but I had asked once and still had to wait another 30 minutes before I asked again. I shouldn’t have to ask two times to give you my money. Especially not when you have ever server only having to take care of 2 tables. Absolutely terrible.
If I’m being fair the service started out just fine, but I suspect most of the servers don’t really know what they’re doing because as soon as more than 4 parties were in the building the quality of service dropped dramatically and all the people sitting in the front outside were basically ignored for the rest of the night. Will not be coming back to this place to pay this high of a price to have my time wasted.

I visited Harry’s during UF homecoming week, so it was busy. Thus, the kitchen was backed up. My friends and I never got our appetizers.
I ordered the salmon salad. (I wish I took a picture). I was tasty and filling.

Atmosphere was great. Top notch. Apps were good as well, so we’re the drinks. Bartender was super knowledgeable and kind. The waitress was nice as well. However our main course, sushi was so not good. Inconsistent and barely tasteful at best. You’d imagine that a place that prides themselves off of their sushi would be delicious. Each piece had a different amount of ingredient as well and some pieces only had fish and nothing else. Overall would come back for drinks and apps.

I loved this place! 1st off our waiter was top notch, very knowledgeable and professional. The food was delicious well balanced so as not to sweet or overpowering sauces to hide the elegance of the sushi or main flavors. I mean this was so much more than I thought Sushi in Gainsville would be. 😅 the ambiance, mood and overall appeal of the restaurant was high scaled and I loved that too. Must have the sake of your choice with the meal it’s amazing.

Came here last minute with an awesome companion and the service was amazing. I cannot recommend this place enough. We happened to stop here otw from West Palm to Texas. Before we even got there, they were more than accommodating. I had called ahead to see if they had any outdoor seating because we were traveling with our pugs. They put a table outside just for us! Anyway, I’m not exaggerating when I say that the food and drinks were the best I’ve had since moving to Florida 4 years ago. My husband and I shared the short ribs, blue cheese salad, and fried cauliflower. Literally the best we have ever had. Please support this business. You won’t be disappointed!!!

We used “The Barn” at Blue Gill for a retirement party this past weekend and everything was perfect! The food and drinks were absolutely delicious, the service was fantastic, the party room was lovely, and the communication with the Blue Gill team was excellent throughout the planning process. Our favorite foods/drinks were the fish dip, pimento cheese plate, margaritas, shrimp and grits, pork rind fried chicken, and the strawberry shortcake! I HIGHLY recommend Blue Gill for your next event!

Absolutely excellent. So unexpected. One, the guy taking our order was very helpful and gave us great recommendations. We got the steak and the shrimp tacos. In love!!! Guac was freshly made. Prices are great.

I always order the pork burrito with cilantro jalapeño sauce, and it’s absolutely delicious. Lovely place to eat.
I will say, though, that I never feel like 1 burrito is enough food. I always wish the portions were a bit bigger. For the price, the quality is there, but I do get left a bit hungry still.

I’ve loved this place since it was steamers.
Great food!!! The spice is provided by fresh peppers which is amazingly better than pepper paste or flakes. If you are a hot head, this place will light you up.
I’ve liked everything I’ve eaten here, but my favorite is the tempeh curry, with local artisan tempeh.

Friendly staff and always top notch food. It was busier than I really felt comfortable with, but I really can’t blame people for wanting their food. They do have outdoor seating and karaoke outside on the night I went

Boca Fiesta has the best tacos in town in my opinion!! I always get the chicken tacos and they never disappoint. However, sour cream, which is a common side or topping to tacos, is not added to their tacos and they charge $1 (yep! Not 0 or $0.5, but $1) for a side of sour cream! And it’s a very tiny amount! It’s super frustrating that it’s so expensive!
On top of that, aside from the hosts and bartenders, the waitresses and waiters are super rude, inattentive, and unprofessional. They act as if they don’t care that you’re dining there. They barely show up (just for getting food orders and delivering the check, w/o even asking whether you want to split it or not!)
I think it’s really sad that they have such a service, given that the location and the vibe is great and the food is nice!

We had our rehearsal dinner here and it was amazing. They had amazing deals for our group and really took care of us. Everything was so delicious like usual!
We also have done trivia here and the service is amazing. Our food is always delicious here. Need fancy pizza with a fun atmosphere? Choose here!

We split a calzone between the two of us and it was still more than we could eat! Very tasty and not bad prices considering the quantity of food. Service was quick but the food took a while to cook (maybe 20-30 minutes) because it’s cooked in a wood-fired oven. It started to get busy around 6:30pm or so but I don’t think the restaurant was full. Definitely would eat there again!

The ambiance was very nice and cozy. The pizzas came out super fast, and they were very rich in flavor. I drank a Margarita with a spiced rim and it was outstanding.

Good food for game day. Only 3 items available and that helped with the flow. . Would visit again if I ever planned another trip to a game but Florida’s fans are rude and disrespectful. I will not personally be going back but if you go to a game if you go it’s not bad

This is your basic Tijuana Flats, excellent as always. It’s smaller than most and there’s no outdoor dining but the food is just as fabulous. Sorry to see that fish tacos are no longer on the menu. However service was great, salads were great, indoor dining was open and not at all crowded.

The place looks incredible! But I was surprised to receive cold food and the sauce that comes with the baggin’ burrito tasted like what I would imagine a car tire tastes like. The cheese on my nachos was hard and it seemed like it wasn’t freshly melted. This was my first time here and would come back but it didn’t meet my expectations. Y’all got 3 stars because the cashier was cute 😉 jk, this place is cool and has great music.
